On August 15th, hackers got into Max’s Facebook account and took control of the fan page. Max and I were removed as Admins and the page was turned into a clickbait cesspool and renamed “Trap Culture”. It looks like this:

If you see this garbage show up in your feed and wonder why you are a follower, that’s why. Please unfollow, report and spread the word. We’re devastated about this and unfortunately Facebook has been no help. When I contacted them on Friday and spoke to them on the phone (after upgrading my personal account to Verified, the only way you can ever actually get support from them) they told me they would return the page to us within 24 hours. That turned out not to be true. I was contacted the next day and told there was no evidence the page had been compromised. Like..really? Anyway I provided even more evidence that the page belonged to us and was told it would be escalated and they would get back to me ASAP.

That was a week ago. Since the hacker has renamed the site and deleted all the content, at this point it probably wouldn’t make much difference if we got the page back. We’d have to rebuild either way. So that’s what we’re going to do. The old page is hemorrhaging followers as people realize it’s a dump anyway.

I won’t go into details about how the page was hacked because I don’t want to give any other hackers any useful info. I’ll just say they pretended to be Kim Gravel’s (QVC host) management and told us they wanted Max on her podcast. They were extremely convincing, Max and I were distracted with important things, and that’s that.

We are in the process of rebuilding and Max is working on. a video about what happened. I had all the videos, Facebook Lives the long pieces I wrote about the show and its characters, and all the photos that were posted so we didn’t lose anything irreplaceable, and we’ll be okay. I hope you’ll all join us on the new page.

NOTE: When the page returns it will not have its blue checkmark. That’s because you need a certain number of followers (10K) before you can get it. I’m sure that won’t be a problem!
